Registered Dietitian (RD)
Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)
Matthew has been a type 1 diabetic since 2012. While attending high school locally in the Imperial County, he realized my mission in life was to obtain the education necessary to help others improve their relationship with food & nutrition, and he has been working towards that mission since. While attending school in Fresno, he found ways to connect to the diabetes community and play his part in increasing diabetes awareness by founding the Diabetes Coalition at Fresno State and co-founding the Central California Type 1 Pricks. In 2019, he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Food & Nutritional Science - Dietetics & Food Administration and a minor in Gerontology (the study of aging). Matthew went on to complete his 1200 hours of supervised practice as a Dietetic Intern at UC San Diego Health; graduating in April 2020. Soon thereafter, he sat for the national boards registration examination by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, passed and received the medical credential, "Registered Dietitian".
In April of 2022, Matthew successfully passed the Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) exam and became board certified in nutrition support. Nutrition support (tube feeding and intravenous nutrition infusion) is a specialized practice that requires the expertise of multiple healthcare professionals. Matthew specializes in the delivery of nutrition either through the gastrointestinal tract or through the peripheral or central line access as long term support or acute support while critically sick. Matthew works full time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at El Centro Regional Medical Center providing nutrition support to those who are critically sick.

Nutrition is a science but pseudo-science belief is not hard to find when it comes to food and our health.
My goal is to be YOUR bridge between nutrition and science-based evidence. I will not endorse FAD diets, I will not try to sell you a product, and I will not promise you results overnight. Rather, I want to give you the tools necessary to intuitively eat by listening to your body. -------- I want to show you that ALL foods fit, we just have to make sure to fit all foods! -------- I want to help you foster a healthy relationship with food and I want you to have fun while doing it!
Work with me and receive a "nutrition prescription" to meet your individualized energy, protein and nutrient needs to sustain your health! Together, we can adjust what you're already doing and step-by-step achieve the improvements you've been seeking that will bring vitality to your day and life.
Take the stress out of of planning your next meal and receive a personalized meal plan tailored to you and your specific needs. The plan includes a mobile app equipped with messaging to answer any questions you may have as they come up and promote accountability. The mobile app also contains many other features including a "smart" grocery list to make shopping for your meals easy. -------- Meal plans even include serving sizes for your entire household!
As great as meal plans can be, it is important to keep in mind, they are not intended to be a permanent solution for healthy eating, but I believe they can serve as a great educational tool that together with one-on-one counseling, will provide you lasting skills to achieve and maintain a balanced diet and a healthy relationship with food.
